2015 Fundraising Mission Announced
Because of our mission: “to help children learn about, respect, and enjoy nature by providing resources and volunteers to support Fallen Timbers Environmental Center,” each year the Friends of Fallen Timbers work with the director and staff of Fallen Timbers to identify how we might best support them in their educational work with the visiting students. This year, they have identified some exciting new technology equipment to enhance the outdoor learning experience, which is currently out of the reach of their budget.
Fran Meeks, Director of Fallen Timbers says, “As for technology, Fallen Timbers is an outdoor environmental classroom so we will always be outside. Technology is to enhance what they are doing outside. [There are] probs that work in conjunction with I-pads to be used outside to collect water quality/ environmental data. [There is also a] microscope that attaches to the i-pad or I-phone is to be used outside. It’s a way for more students at one time to see things in front of them up close. They can all look at an I-pad screen rather than having to take turns looking in a hard-to-use traditional microscope.”
We look forward to another busy year, and your support in the effort!
